Troubleshooting

Common issues and solutions for using SOL Rent Claimer

Accounts Issues

Account Won't Close Despite Zero Balance

Solutions:

  • For Token-2022 accounts with transfer fees, withheld fees must be harvested first
  • SOL Rent Claimer automatically handles this, so wait for the process to complete
  • Some accounts may have confidential transfers that need to be emptied
  • If the account has any delegation, it can't be closed until delegation is revoked
  • Very rarely, an account might have dust (fraction of a token) - this must be burned first

Connection Issues

Wallet Won't Connect

Solutions:

  • Make sure your wallet extension (Phantom, Solflare, etc.) is installed and unlocked
  • Try refreshing the page and connecting again
  • Check if you're on the correct network (Mainnet-beta for production)
  • Clear your browser cache and cookies
  • Try a different browser or disable ad blockers that might interfere
  • Make sure your wallet extension is up to date

Wrong Network (Devnet vs Mainnet)

Solutions:

  • Check which network you're connected to in your wallet
  • SOL Rent Claimer uses Mainnet-beta by default
  • If using Devnet for testing, accounts won't show in Mainnet (and vice versa)
  • Switch your wallet to Mainnet-beta in the wallet settings
  • Devnet SOL has no value - make sure you're on Mainnet to reclaim real SOL

Wallet Disconnects Automatically

Solutions:

  • This is usually a wallet extension issue
  • Try locking and unlocking your wallet
  • Check if your wallet extension needs an update
  • Some wallets auto-disconnect after a period of inactivity for security
  • Simply reconnect when prompted

RPC Rate Limit Error

Solutions:

  • Public RPC endpoints have rate limits
  • Wait 30-60 seconds and try again
  • If you frequently hit rate limits, consider using a private RPC endpoint
  • Try again during off-peak hours when network usage is lower

Fees Issues

High Transaction Fees

Solutions:

  • Standard Solana transaction fees are very low (~0.000005 SOL per signature)
  • If fees seem high, you might be closing many accounts (each needs a signature)
  • The rent you reclaim (~0.002 SOL per account) should far exceed the fees
  • If you're seeing unusually high fees, there may be a wallet bug - try refreshing

Referral Issues

Referral Link Not Working

Solutions:

  • Make sure the referral link includes your wallet address
  • The referrer can't be the same as the user (self-referral is blocked)
  • Check that the referral address is a valid Solana address
  • The referral parameter should be in the URL: ?ref=YourAddress
  • Visit our Referral page for more details

Scanning Issues

No Closeable Accounts Found

Solutions:

  • This means all your token accounts either have balances or are already closed - good news!
  • If you recently created accounts, try refreshing after a few minutes
  • Make sure you're connected to the correct wallet
  • Empty your token accounts first (transfer or sell tokens) before they can be closed

Scanning Takes Too Long

Solutions:

  • If you have many token accounts (100+), scanning can take 30-60 seconds
  • Make sure you have a stable internet connection
  • Don't close or refresh the page during scanning
  • If it takes longer than 2 minutes, try refreshing and scanning again
  • Some RPC endpoints may be slower during peak hours

Can't See Recently Created Accounts

Solutions:

  • New accounts take a few seconds to appear on the blockchain
  • Refresh the page and re-scan your wallet
  • Make sure the accounts actually have zero balance
  • Accounts created in the last block might not be visible yet - wait 30 seconds

Transactions Issues

Transaction Failed

Solutions:

  • Check if you have enough SOL for transaction fees (~0.00001 SOL per account)
  • The Solana network might be congested - wait a few minutes and try again
  • Try closing fewer accounts at once (select 10-20 instead of all)
  • Check Solana status at status.solana.com to see if there are network issues
  • Make sure your wallet has enough SOL balance (at least 0.001 SOL)
  • Some RPC nodes may be slow - try again in a few minutes

"Insufficient Funds" Error

Solutions:

  • You need a small amount of SOL for transaction fees
  • Make sure you have at least 0.001 SOL in your wallet
  • Remember: you need SOL for fees BEFORE you get the rent back
  • If you have no SOL, you'll need to acquire some first from an exchange
  • Try closing fewer accounts to reduce the total transaction fee

Transaction Approved But Not Completed

Solutions:

  • Check the transaction status on Solscan using the signature link
  • Solana transactions can take 5-30 seconds to confirm
  • If the transaction shows "confirmed" on Solscan but the UI hasn't updated, refresh the page
  • If it shows "failed" on Solscan, check the error message there
  • Network congestion can delay confirmations - be patient

Still Need Help?

If you're still experiencing issues after trying these solutions:

Prevention Tips

Avoid common issues by following these best practices:

✓ Always Keep Enough SOL

Maintain at least 0.001 SOL in your wallet for transaction fees before attempting to close accounts.

✓ Use Updated Software

Keep your wallet extension and browser up to date to avoid compatibility issues.

✓ Be Patient During Scans

Let the account scan complete fully. It can take up to 60 seconds if you have many accounts.

✓ Check Network Status

During high congestion, wait for better network conditions before closing accounts.
